When she graduated from high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was cast in her first show in the midst of her university year. The show she played in 92 performances were praised by Canadian reviewers. The opportunity was presented to her to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. The school accepts only eight men and four woman for a crash course in the art of classical theater. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor was guaranteed a spot in the next season of productions and was offered the part in the role of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
